On Monday, October 29, 2018, Harold Miller, 97, a long-time Wappingers Falls resident, passed away peacefully at home.
Originally from Westchester County, Harold was born on April 28, 1921 in Mount Vernon to Robert Miller and Martha Treulieb Miller. He married his sweetheart, Florence Suchy, on December 25, 1941. She predeceased him in 2015.
Harold is survived by his children: Steven (Mary) Miller, Susan (Eugene) Lalli, and Irene Miller; his grandchildren: Christopher (Jennifer) Lalli, Keith (Katie) Miller, Richard Lalli, Ryan (Amy) Miller, and Sarah Monitto; his great-grandchildren, Charlotte Miller, Mikayla Miller, Marin Lalli, Zach Narbaiz, Abby Narbaiz, and Mason Miller; his sister, Frances (Joe) Voerman; and his brother, Richard Miller.
Harold served in the US Army during World War II as a mechanic with the 12th Armored Tank Division in England, France and Germany. After the War, he returned to New York and started his own charter bus company, Acorn Coach (later Miller Bus) where he worked until his retirement in the late 1980s. He enjoyed working on cars and buses, woodworking, chopping wood, and working around the house. In the past few years, he enjoyed his days at the Evercare Choice Senior Daycare Center in Newburgh. He really enjoyed talking to all people. Everyone knew him by name wherever he went, and he always had a cheerful greeting for them. He was an honorary member of the Thunder Road Cruisers, and loved going to local car shows where he could be seen cruising around on his scooter.
