Click here to view all obituariesDebbie was one of the best IBM first line managers ever. Early in my career Debbie empowered me to make important decisions (as the knowledgeable expert), to be willing to take appropriate risk, stand ground with defensible arguments, and most importantly, to enjoy the effort and have fun at work every day.
Working with Debbie was like a breath of deep fresh air. When she'd come into your office for updates, to see what needed help, or to advocate for her team, she’d lighten the load and light up the room. She was always fair, honest, and ready to stick her neck out to 'fight' for her team.
We lost touch over the years, but her credibility, integrity, and character will never be forgotten.
I’m praying for Debbie and for her family. She was one of a kind and my life was made better because of her. I am so sorry for your loss.
Teddy Roosevelt may have said, "nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care", but I internalized the meaning of that vauable life lesson from Debbie Gurski.
