Obituary for Mark Robert Marotta

Mark Robert Marotta
Mark R. Marotta

Mark Marotta, 36, of Red Hook, died April 14, 2018 at Northern Dutchess Hospital after a brief illness. He was the beloved son of Alfred Marotta and Monika Norden of Hopewell Junction. Mark grew up in Hopewell and attended Wappingers schools and Dutchess BOCES. He resided in a group home operated by Cardinal Hayes Home for Children. Mark’s family will always be grateful to the many friends and staff at CHHC who showed so much love for Mark.

Mark was an avid bowler. He loved camping, movies, attending Marist women’s basketball games, dancing, music (especially bagpipes), and anything Shrek green. With his gentle nature and sense of humor, Mark will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mark is survived by his sister Maria of Gaithersburg, Maryland, her husband Chris, and their children Joshua, David, Peter, and Alethea. He is also survived by his two grandmothers Elfrieda and Kajsa and many other relatives.

Calling hours will be 2-5 Saturday, April 21, at McHoul Funeral Home, 895 Route 82 in Hopewell Junction. Burial will be private.

Donations in Mark’s honor can be made to Cardinal Hayes Home for Children, PO Box CH, St. Joseph’s Drive, Millbrook, NY 12545, or to the Down Syndrome Association of the Hudson Valley, PO Box 161, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533.
