Obituary for Kathleen Blackler

Kathleen Blackler
FISHKILL – Kathleen Blackler, a Dutchess County resident for over 40 years, died on Friday, March 16, 2018 at the Wingate at Dutchess in Fishkill. She was 75.
Daughter of the late Patrick and Alice (McGloin) Woods, she was born in Brooklyn on November 17, 1942. On May 17, 1967, she married Stephen F. Blackler, Jr. at Holy Name Church in Brooklyn. She and Stephen then relocated to Staten Island, where they remained until moving to Wappingers Falls with their three children in 1975. Kathy and Stephen recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary.
She enjoyed hobbies such as sewing and cooking, but more importantly, she will be remembered for her generous spirit. Kathy lived her life selflessly and continually strived to improve the welfare of others, be it family, friends, or strangers. She contributed to the Fishkill Food Pantry on a regular basis, and cooked meals for those who were in need, especially during the Holiday Season. She also supported the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, Stephen, at home in Fishkill; her son, Stephen F. Blackler, III and his wife Becky of Plainfield, IL; her daughter, Patti Ellis and her husband Dean of The Woodlands, TX; her daughter, Mary Ellen Zumbrook and her husband Matt of Hopewell Junction; her grandchildren, Connor, Olivia, Ella, and Andrew; her brother, Patrick Woods of Washingtonville; and many other loving relatives & friends.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 19 at the McHoul Funeral Home, 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 20 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Interment will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Fishkill Food Pantry, 1153 Main Street, Fishkill, NY 12524 or the Parkinson's Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131 (www.parkinson.org).
