Mary E. Piacente
FISHKILL – Mary E. Piacente, 93, a lifelong area resident, died on October 22, 2017 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in Beacon on September 12, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Rose (Miccio) Piacente. At 18 years old, Mary started working at a dress shop in Beacon. She then worked for the Cardigan Hat Factory, also in Beacon, where her sister, Josephine worked as secretary. She then began her career as an inspector for IBM in East Fishkill for 18 years until her retirement.

Mary is survived by her brother, Dominick “Sonny” Piacente; her brother-in-law, Joseph Agunzo; her nieces and nephews, Thomas Agunzo and his wife Laurie, Tony Piacente and his wife Leann, Elizabeth Piacente, James McCleery and his wife Charlotte, Rose Lillo, and Anne Burns and her husband Gary; and many great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her siblings, Josephine Agunzo, who was also her best friend, Lucy McCleery, and Carmine Piacente; and her niece, Judy Agunzo.

Mary’s family will always remember her for her deep faith in God. She was a parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church, a member of Catholic Daughters of America and St. Rocco Society in Beacon, and she often attended the Fishkill Senior Center.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5-8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday at 10 am at St. Mary, Mother of the Church followed by entombment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
