It was our pre-teen years when we all spent many innocent hours of family time together during our Sunday’s day trips (Beaches & Flushing Park) and including all the holidays. The clan was made up of 3 families (Wong’s siblings) that went on trips via mass transit as no one own a vehicle. We, nine kids/cousins and our parents packed the train car and did our best to stay in our seats from Manhattan to Flushing or Coney Island. Back in the seventies, Kai and I being close in age and height were ocean wave buddies … it felt like we spent over 100 hours just jumping those waves as they came in. LOL. Now these waves are created at all these water parks across the country. It was fun, as back then there was no video handheld games, iphones, only a few channels on television, prep classes and youth sport/dance/music activity were nonexistent so social playtime and family company was all we had. It was our safe family zone protected by our parents and cousins. We also had a grand time at the kids table when we went out to eat…that lasted a good number of years. Yes, he will be missed but his model of goodness should be reciprocated in people he touched along the way.
