Obituary for Jacques T. "Jack" Harden

WAPPINGERS FALLS – Jacques T. “Pa” Harden, 84, a lifelong resident of Hughsonville, died on December 15, 2018 less than two months after the death of his wife of 62 years.

Born in Poughkeepsie on January 17, 1934, he was the son the late Cushman “Pop” and Helen Harden. He proudly served in the US Army. Jack retired in 1988 as equipment operator from the New York State Department of Transportation.

On January 30, 1956 in Wappingers Falls, Jack married Frances (Cahn) Harden who predeceased him on October 23, 2018. He is survived by his children, Scott Harden and his wife Karen of Fishkill and Jacqueline Harden and her partner, Mike Clocher of Poughkeepsie; his granddaughter, Amanda and her boyfriend Nick; and his grandson, Ryan. He was also predeceased by his 9 brothers and sisters.

An avid outdoorsman, Jack especially loved feeding birds. He also liked hunting, fishing, and woodworking. Pa, who was known as “Candyman” at the Fishkill Walmart, enjoyed handing out Hershey Kisses to the employees. More than anything, he will be remembered for his kind soul and always wanting to help others in need.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 2-4 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill followed by a brief service and military honors at 4 pm.
