She came to live with her daughter and son-in-law in May of 2004 - 14 years ago.
In her early twenties, Mom learned of the Lord Jesus and what He did for her. .A precious lady, who later became a family friend & piano teacher, was instrumental in sharing the Good News of salvation with June and her husband.. She shared how they each could have a relationship with the Lord Jesus and a promised home in heaven with Him. This Scripture became a reality when she believed: John 3:16-18 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God."
Though not perfect, June was a purposeful, loving mom who trusted Christ. The following are some of the character traits and skills that my she possessed with God's help:
*Very resourceful - learned to "make-do" and busied herself by learning to can fruits and vegetables, bake, & build rock walls for her flower garden. A favorite was when she made potato chips --though she said, "never again".
*Very creative
*Skillful seamstress - She made costumes and my graduation dress
*Very Sensitive
*Made sure we had balanced, healthy meals
*Received teasing very well.
*A desire to point her children to the Savior.
In addition to her supplying her children with wholesome books and records about the Lord, she would have Family Radio playing throughout the day. This impacted her children's decisions, as they listened to Godly teaching and music.
June would try to regularly read her Bible. In addition she would listen to the list of shut-ins that would be announced on the radio, and she would write down all the names and addresses. Each one would get a card. Also, at bedtime, she'd read a Bible story to her children and pray with them. In her way, she was trying to point her children to the Savior.
The One Who gets the glory for all He has done in and through June is the Lord Jesus. TO HIM BE ALL THE GLORY & PRAISE. Funeral service will be held on Saturday November 24th 2pm at Bethel Baptist Church 511 Shenandoah Road Hopewell Junction, NY
