Obituary for Betty H. Doyle (Legg)

HOPEWELL JUNCTION - Betty H. “Meem” Doyle, 89, formerly of Prospect Park, NJ, died on November 11, 2018 at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence.

Born on September 26, 1929 in Paterson, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Roy W. and Betty (Harrison) Legg. On September 11, 1949 at Trinity Methodist Church in Paterson, NJ, she married Charles P. Doyle who predeceased her on November 12, 2013.

Betty worked for over 30 years as the secretary at the Fishkill United Methodist Church where she was a member and active in the United Methodist Women, /Book Club, and Couples Club. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Richard “Bert” Mainey of Newburgh; her grandchildren, Patrick Mainey, Matthew Mainey, Steven E. Greene (USMC, RET) and his wife Katie, and Andrew J. Greene; her great-granddaughters, McKenzie Ellynn and Avery Jane; her sister, Janet Nawyn; and many nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by her daughter, Patricia Doyle Greene on September 2, 2011.

Our family is so grateful for the wonderful care Betty has received. Her caregivers at home were truly angels who kept her laughing and happy while providing for her every need. Her doctor and staff at Vassar took wonderful care of her while there. Everyone at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence was simply amazing. We cannot begin to thank them enough.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5 – 8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A funeral service will be officiated by Pastor Micah on Saturday at 11 am at the funeral home followed by burial at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.

Donations may be made in Betty’s memory to the Fishkill United Methodist Church, 38 Broad Street, Fishkill, NY 12524 or the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence, 1 Sunrise Lane, Newburgh, NY 12550. Please visit her Book of Memories at www.mchoulfuneralhome.com.
