Obituary for Charles "Pepe" DeGaetano

Charles “Pepe” DeGaetano, 92, an area resident since 1974 and formerly of the Bronx, died on October 8, 2018 at MidHudson Regional Hospital.

Born in New York City on October 21, 1925, he was the son of Carmine and Lucy DeGaetano. Pepe proudly served our country in the US Navy. He had been employed as a driver with UPS in Elmsford. He and his wife also owned and operated Pepe and Chick’s Trophies.

An avid bowler, Pepe had many “300” games. He also enjoyed traveling to casinos, car shows and flea markets.

On December 14, 1948, Pepe married Florence “Chickie” Walsh who predeceased him on April 25, 2016. He was also predeceased by his children, Renee Ballas, Denise DeGaetano, and Charlie DeGaetano; and his siblings, Rudy, Jimmy, Bobby, Peter, Dominick, Mary and Patricia. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Silvia DeGaetano; his grandchildren, Corrine Ballas, Suzanne Ballas, Jonathan DeGaetano, and Mark DeGaetano; and his sisters, Jeanette Carbone and Antoinette Ninsling.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 6-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by entombment at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
