Obituary for Wilhelm J. "Willi" Ploschke

Wilhelm (Willi) J. Ploschke, 84, an area resident for 20 years and formerly of Hawthorne, died on September 21, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in Hemmoor, Germany on April 24, 1934, he was the son of Heinrich and Marie (Ehlers) Ploschke. Willi proudly served our country in the US Army and was the owner and operator of Town Deli in Chappaqua and Luhrs Confectionary in the Bronx. He was a member of All Saints Evangelical Lutheran Church in LaGrangeville. An avid bird watcher, he was active in several German heritage organizations.

On November 4, 1956 in the Bronx, Willi married Joan Luhrs who predeceased him on June 17, 2004. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Lorraine and Rick Witt, Bill and Eileen Ploschke, and Christa Ploschke; his grandsons, Billy and Ryan Ploschke; his siblings, Greta Moeller, Hans Ploschke, and Herbert Ploschke; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will be on Wednesday at 11am at the funeral home followed by interment in Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
