Obituary for Michael William Dziuk

Michael William  Dziuk
Michael William Dziuk, 59, of Belle Harbor, died on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan following a two-year battle with cancer.
Son of the late Walter and Sophie (Krewko) Dziuk, he was born in Brooklyn on February 27, 1959. Mike had a lifelong public service career with both the New York City Fire Department and New York City Police Department. He retired from the NYPD as Detective in 2001.
Mike will be remembered for his spirit of kindness and selflessness. He loved to cook and entertain for his family & friends and always cherished being in their presence. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and spending time along Rockaway Beach. He touched the hearts of everyone who knew him and will be dearly missed.
His loving wife, Joanne Scannello Dziuk, survives at home in Belle Harbor, along with their two daughters: Raina and Shannon Dziuk.
Additional survivors include two sisters: Patricia Lisi & her husband Frank of Staten Island and Linda Carvalhido & her husband Michael of Freehold, NJ; his twin brother, Peter W. Dziuk & his wife Julie of Staten Island; his sister-in-law, Camille Scannello; his brother-in-law, Frank Scannello; his nieces & nephews, Stephanie McHoul & husband Doug, Michael Carvalhido & wife Kristina, Peter Dziuk, Alexandra Lisi, and Eric Dziuk; his great-niece and great-nephews, Madelyn & Nolan McHoul and Brixton & Duke Carvalhido; and many other loving relatives & friends.
Calling hours will be held from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 16 at Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home, 91-05 Beach Channel Dr. Rockaway Beach, NY 11693.
A celebration of Mike’s life will follow, starting at 12 p.m. at the Rockaway Brewing Company, 415 Beach 72nd Street, Arverne.
