Obituary for Donald W. Johnson

Donald W.  Johnson
EAST FISHKILL – Donald W. Johnson, a local area resident since 1969, formerly of the Bronx, died at home on Wednesday, September 5, 2018. He was 79.

Son of the late Alfred H. and Florence (McNally) Johnson, he was born in Mount Kisco on April 3, 1939. He was a U.S. Military Veteran and served in the Army National Guard. Don was an Iron Worker and belonged to the Metallic Lathers and Reinforcing Ironworkers Local 46 for 48 years.

He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed spending time crabbing along the Hudson River. More than anything else, Don will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished spending time with his family and friends.

On October 5, 1963, he married Arleen N. Iannuccilli at Our Lady of Grace Church in the Bronx. Arleen survives at home.

Additional survivors include his daughter, Maria Fitton & her husband Jack of Gibsonville, NC; his son, Donald J. Johnson of Wappingers Falls; his son, Patrick Johnson & his wife Tricia of Laramie, WY; his daughter, Jennifer Sullivan & her husband Michael of New Paltz; his grandchildren, Alexandra, Giacomo, Michela, Joseph, Adrian, Ciara, Leila, Sophie, Griffin, and Desmond; as well as several nieces and nephews and many loving friends.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, September 9 at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 10 at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, followed by interment at St. Denis Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, c/o St. Columba Church, P.O. Box 428, Hopewell Jct., NY 12533 or Hudson Valley Hospice Foundation, 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 (www.hvhospice.org).
