Obituary for Ruth Anne Murray

Ruth Anne Murray, 86, an area resident since 1972 and formerly of the Bronx, died peacefully on August 25, 2018 at her home.

Born in the Bronx on November 17, 1931, she was the daughter of John and Ruth (Ashton) Martin. Ruth Anne was a dedicated parishioner of St. Columba Church, and was a member of the St. Denis/St. Columba/St. Kateri Altar Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Columbiettes of St. Mary’s Council and a member of the Loving Hands Crocheting Group.

On September 25, 1954 at Our Lady of Mercy Church in the Bronx, Ruth Anne married Joseph Murray who survives at home. She is also survived by her children and their spouses, Joseph Murray, Kathleen Alewine, Brian Patrick and Margaret Murray, Anne Marie and Guy Martin, Maureen Ritacco, and Stephen John and Sherry Murray; her son-in-law, Philip Rock; her grandchildren, Joseph III, Shane, Kelly, Melissa, Mina, Matthew, Ashley, Corey, Philip, Jacinta, Frank, James, Heather and Samantha; her great-grandchildren, Francesca, Victoria, Kal-El, Leia, Pippin, Amelia and Kennedy; and her nephews, Kevin Robbins and Father Robert Robbins. She was looking forward to the birth of a new great-grandchild, and her first great, great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her daughter, Suzanne Rock; her son-in-law, Frank Ritacco; her grandson, Philip James “PJ” Rock; and her siblings, John Martin and Edith Robbins.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday at 11am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
