Patricia E.  Martine (Breen)
Patricia E. Martine, 80, a resident of Millbrook, previously of Hopewell Junction and Olean, NY died on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born on February 17, 1938 in Philadelphia, PA, Patricia was the daughter of James J. and Stella (Samluk) Breen. After graduation from St. Hubert’s Catholic Girls High School, she matriculated at Manor College, attended classes at St. Bonaventure and Penn State. She was an administrative assistant in the Trust Department of Manufacturers Hanover Bank. Patricia was a longtime parishioner at St. Mary’s of the Angels Church in Olean and more recently of St. Joseph’s Church in Millbrook.

The author Robert Worth Frank acknowledged Patricia as one of the good women in his book Chaucer and The Legend of Good Women. She was legendary for her incredibly kind, giving, gracious heart and wicked sense of humor. She had a gift for making significant connections with anyone and everyone she met. Her life long dedication to volunteer work is evident by a lengthy list of organizations, including St. Francis Hospital and the American Cancer Society. Her favorite hobbies of cooking, walking the dogs , feeding birds and wildlife all revolved around her gift for nurturing family, friends and all God’s creatures.

On May 27, 1961 at Our Lady of Consolation Church in Philadelphia, PA, Patricia married James J. Martine. She is predeceased by her daughter, Stephanie Martini Papoulis. She is survived by her husband, son, James J. and wife Laurie of McLean, VA, daughter, Andrea Gardner and husband James of Hopewell Junction; son in law, Jim Papoulis and wife Sophia of Brookline, MA; grandchildren, Piper Caryl, Claire, Demitri, Rob and Drew, brother-in-law, Lou Martine and wife Sue of Cherry Hill, NJ; nephews, John and wife Alicia, Chris and wife Becky, Rob and wife Jane; 10 great nieces and nephews; beloved cousin, Terry Martini Sousa and husband Joe.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on August 13th at 11 am at St. Bonaventure University Chapel. The family will be present to receive friends there beginning at 10.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Foundation for Small Voices, Guiding Eyes for the Blind or a charity of your choice.
