Obituary for
Theresa Puleo
FISHKILL – Theresa Giuliano Puleo, 88, a resident of Fishkill since 1984, died unexpectedly on July 12, 2018 at home. She previously lived in Yonkers.
Born on April 16, 1930 in the Bronx, Theresa was the daughter of the late Louis and Grace (Zarro) Giuliano.
On September 27, 1953 at Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto at St. Lucy's Church in the Bronx, she married Robert Puleo. Her husband of 65 years survives at home. She is also survived by her children, Robert Puleo, Jr. of New Rochelle, Lisa Puleo and her partner Michael Ferraro both of Bedford Hills; and Gina Mazzuca of Fishkill; her faithful cat, Mimi; and her nieces and nephews, including those who were especially close to her, Grace Pisciotta and Rita Soto. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her siblings, Louis Giuliano, Cosmo Giuliano, and Frankie Giuliano. She also remained extremely close to her surviving sisters-in-law, Anna Giuliano and Jeanne Giuliano, and her cousin, Toni Grundig.
Theresa was a gifted professional opera singer whose career started in high school before advancing on to opera companies including the Messina Opera Company, the Connecticut Grand Opera, and the New Jersey Opera Company. More than anything, she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially her husband and children. She will be remembered as a loving mother with a sense of humor that was contagious, who taught her children to live by ethical principles especially forgiveness.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-6 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday at 10 am at St. Mary, Mother of the Church followed by entombment at Ferncliff Cemetery.
