Obituary for Robert Richard Diaz

FISHKILL – Robert Richard Diaz, 82, an area resident for 55 years, died on June 29, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He previously lived in the Bronx.

Born in Manhattan on March 31, 1936, Robert was the son of the late George and Mary (Estopinal) Diaz. He proudly served in the US Marines.

Robert owned and operated Alco Auto Parts in the Bronx for many years. He then worked as a part time police officer for the Town of Fishkill for 20 years. He was a small craft pilot who also enjoyed fishing.

On September 29, 1956 in the Bronx, he married Rose (Silva) Diaz. His loving wife of 62 years survives at home. Other survivors include his daughter, Theresa Certosimo and her husband Art of Rutherford, NJ; his son, Robert Diaz of Florida; his grandchildren, Matthew and Cara Certosimo and Jonathan and Simone Diaz; his brother, Ricky Lopez and his wife Mary; his daughter-in-law, Dana Diaz; and many other family members and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 10th from 4-8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 11th at 11 am at the funeral home followed by entombment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery with military honors.
