Obituary for Michel F. Bizien

Michel F. Bizien
Mr. Michel
(Michel Bizien)
By Remy Bizien
10-15-1922 to 5-18-2018

Today, my Father is dancing with my Mother in the heavens above. He started his life in Laz, France as a farmer. He was captured by the Nazi’s during World War II, married Simone LeFloch, had the most handsome child in the world, Remy, and finally set his sail towards the United States, the land of milk and honey.

To me, he was Papa but the rest of the world called him Mr. Michel. Mr. Michel was indeed a prestigious title! President Kennedy and Jacqueline, Mikhail Gorbachev, a Young Fidel Castro, President Eisenhower, and General De Gaulle were greeted by Mr. Michel’s inviting smile at the Carlyle Hotel. Jacqueline would call when she had a impromptu luncheon and Mr. Michel would prepare a perfect menu. She even asked him to find her the White House Chef which he, of course, did. General DeGaulle promised Mr. Michel to build a road from Paris to Brittany so the farmers could get their crops to Paris, over a chilled glass of champagne. Several years later, that road was in progress. President Kennedy insisted on Mr. Michel being his valet when he came to NYC. His secrets were always safe with Mr. Michel.

In his years after retirement, Papa went back to his roots, farming his home garden. Did you know that you should never plant a seed 3 days before and after a full moon or, if the paper moon is on it’s back in the sky, you will get a lot of rain the next month?

He did make things easy for me. He made a list of everything my Mother needed to do when he died. How many death certificate she should get, who she should call, account numbers every detail contained in 32 numbered files, from landscaping instructions to instructions on maintaining the furnace. But my Mother died first…so the list is mine to follow and enjoy.

Now that Mr. Michel’s journey has ended with us and his new life is now beginning, his parting words to my Mother way down at the bottom of that list I say from him to all of you…”the fight is over and I love you anyway.”
