Obituary for Margaret Kathryn "Peggy" Lawler (Brodie)

LAGRANGE - Margaret Kathryn Lawler, 84, an area resident for 7 years and formerly of Westchester County, died peacefully at her home on May 9, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.

Born in the Bronx on March 27, 1934, she was the daughter of Harry and Elizabeth Brodie. Peggy was a parishioner of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church in LaGrangeville. She was a member of the Northern Star Quilting Guild and an auxiliary member of the Pharmaceutical Society of New York. Peggy was a banjo player with the Riverbank Banjo Band, and she enjoyed sewing and cooking.

On June 11, 1955 in the Bronx, Peggy married the love of her life, Brendan Lawler, who survives at home. She is also survived by her children and their spouses, Stephen and Karin Lawler of Newport, NC, David and Maria Lawler of Exeter, RI, Barbara and Robert Smith of Downingtown, PA, and Christopher and Carrie Lawler of Park Ridge, NJ; her grandchildren, William Lawler, Jacqueline, Jessica Davis (Kieran) and Christopher Lawler, Meagan Pecsok (Thomas), Brendan and Ryan Smith, and Nicholas and Jack Lawler; her brother, Harry Brodie; and her sister-in-law, Roberta Brodie. She was looking forward to the birth of her first great-grandchild who is due to arrive next week. In addition to her parents, Peggy was predeceased by her beloved son, Brendan P. Lawler, in 1979; and her brothers, William Wallace Brodie and Thomas Brodie.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 18, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, May 19, at 10am at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 1925 Route 82, LaGrangeville followed by interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
