Obituary for Frank P. DeRobertis, PhD

Frank P. DeRobertis, PhD, 71, an area resident for 45 years and previously of the Bronx, died on February 19, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born on April 28, 1946 in the Bronx, Frank was the son of Nicholas and Rosa (Squeo) DeRobertis. He retired from IBM in Poughkeepsie after a long and distinguished career.

Frank passed down his love of music to his sons and was passionate about his tools, gadgets, and cars. Although a PhD in the technical field of Management of Information Systems, he was exceedingly handy and could fix almost anything. He was an adjunct professor at Marist College and worked as a substitute teacher for Wappingers Central School District. Above all else, he loved and cherished his family. His love for his family cannot be truly expressed in words. His grandsons were the light of his life and always brought a smile to his face.

On May 6, 1967 at Mount Carmel Church in the Bronx, Frank married Rosemary Noia who survives at home. Survivors also include his sons, Christopher V. and his wife Jill of Hopewell Junction and Dennis of Poughquag; his grandsons, Michael and Anthony; his dogs, Mia and Bella; and his siblings, Corrado and his wife Eda, Ellie DeRosa and Ignatio; and his brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Anna Noia. In addition to his parents, Frank was predeceased by his sisters, Ida, Marie and Isabelle and his mother-in-law, Ann Noia.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by entombment at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
