Obituary for Julia Pearl Lucas

FISHKILL – Julia Pearl Lucas 81, a devoted mother and loving wife. Julia, daughter of the late Buster Beasley and Annie Pearl Robinson, was born in Wrightsville, GA on December 31, 1936. As a young child she moved to Ft. Pierce Florida where she grew up and met her husband of 64 years, David E. Lucas Senior. After their marriage on January 7th, 1954; they moved to Glenham, NY and then later to Fishkill, NY; where they raised seven beautiful children.

Julia was a Christian who served at Beulah Baptist Church, Everlasting Covenant, and Faith Assembly. Her family knew her to be a spiritual woman and a strong prayer Warrior.

Julia enjoyed many hobbies which included sewing, crocheting, reading, badminton, basketball and a number of other sporting activities. She enjoyed attending the football games whenever her sons played during their school years. She also had a sincere passion for clothing trends and fashion, which she passed on to her four daughters. She enjoyed teaching her daughters the art of making dresses and suits and crocheting and knitting. We will all cherish these fond memories.

Julia also enjoyed a career with the IBM Corporation working in Quality Control at their Fishkill facility before retiring.

On Saturday February 10, 2018 Julia Pearl Lucas departed this life to take rest with the Lord. She will be greatly missed. She leaves behind many family members and friends who will cherish her memory.

She is survived by a loving family which includes her husband, David E. Lucas, Sr.; her son, Danny Lucas of Stone Mt., GA; her son, David E. Lucas Jr. & his wife Sylvia of Fishkill, NY; her daughter, Cheryl Smallwood & her husband Ronald of Newburgh, NY; her son, Lawrence Steven Lucas of Lithonia, GA; her daughter-in-law, Dawn Lucas of Babylon, NY; her daughter, Beverly Ortquist & her husband Eric of Beacon, NY; her daughter, Cecilia Montgomery & her husband Warren of Camas, WA; her daughter, Princess Lindner & her husband Timothy of Cold Spring, NY; as well as 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; also her aunt, Lennie Knight of Glenham, NY, and sister-in-law, DeGloria Hall of Columbia, MD; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and other loving relatives & friends.

In addition to her parents, Julia was predeceased in death by her brother, William Hall of New Brunswick, NJ; her sister-in-law, Jeannie Hall of New Brunswick, NJ; her sister, Ernestine Talbott of Detroit MI; her brother, Jonathan Hall of Columbia, MD; and her daughter-in-law, Charlotte Lucas of Stone Mountain, GA.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, February 23rd at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY. A second visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 24th at Salem Tabernacle, 7 Delavan Avenue, Beacon, NY. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Bill Dandreano officiating.

Interment will follow at the Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
