Obituary for
Salvatore F. Arpa
HOPEWELL JUNCTION - Salvatore F. Arpa, 89, an area resident for four years and formerly of Washington Heights, died peacefully at his home on January 14, 2018.
Born in Manhattan on May 27, 1928, he was the son of Vincent and Fanny (Blondini) Arpa. Salvatore proudly served our country in the US Navy during World War II. He was employed as a conductor with the New York City Transit Authority. He enjoyed visiting casinos and horse racing.
On June 6, 1954 at Good Shepherd Church in Manhattan, Salvatore married Inge Stein who predeceased him on January 17, 1970. He was also predeceased by his children, James Arpa and Janet Arpa.
Salvatore is survived by his sons and their wives, John and Angelina Arpa, Thomas and Lisa Arpa, and Michael Arpa; his daughter-in-law, Sylvia Arpa; and his grandchildren, John and Bridget Arpa, Kristen Arpa, Angela Arpa, and Michael Arpa.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. There will be a service on Thursday at 10am at the funeral home followed by interment in Long Island National Cemetery with military honors.
