Obituary for James P. Treacy

YONKERS – James P. Treacy, 81, a life long resident of Yonkers, died on January 6, 2018 at his son’s home.

Born in Yonkers on October 1, 1936, James was the son of the late John and Sarah (Clarke) Treacy. He had been employed for almost 40 years by the City of Yonkers Department of Public Works until his retirement in 1998.

An avid fan of the NY Mets and Jets, James was proud to tell everyone that his youngest daughter was born the same day that the Jets ever won the Super Bowl.

He is survived by his children, Laureen Treacy and her husband Michael Hind of Cortlandt Manor, James Treacy and his wife Wen of Poughkeepsie, Darren Treacy and his wife Kim of Fishkill, and Tara Treacy Orifici and her husband Dave of Pawling; his grandson, Kiran Treacy-Hind; his siblings, Maureen Marton, Colin Treacy, Joseph Treacy and his wife Angela, and Edward Treacy; his sister-in-law, June Treacy; and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his former wife, Bernice Vaughan Beairsto and his brother, Jack Treacy.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. Donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
