Obituary for John B. Chamberlin

John Burke Chamberlin left us on December 30, 2017 with his two sons William Jay and John Scott by his side. He had been dealing with failing health and died at the age of 88 years old.

John was born in Kearny, NJ in 1929 and at the age of 12 and the start of World War II moved to Newark, NJ. After the war his father got a job at a much smaller company called IBM, and the family moved to West Park, NY where he met his wife Ursula Burroughs Love, great-granddaughter of John Burroughs, noted author and naturalist writer. After that, he spent two years in the Army, in the Medical Corp, doing dentistry lab work in Occupied Germany. When he returned, like his father and two brothers, he too went to work at IBM as an Engineer with several patents to his name, and retired 37 years later.

He is survived by his two sons who cared for and lived with him; and his daughter Darcy Joan Chamberlin Grim and family in West Park, NY. His wife passed in 2000 from lung cancer and his youngest son, Paul Edmund, in 2005 from renal failure.

John loved to play music all his life, playing guitar, banjo, piano and organ. He also was good with electrical, plumbing and light carpentry. In addition, he enjoyed bowling at Fishkill Bowl.

Services will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. Memorial donations may be made to the Mockingbird Foundation. Please visit John’s Book of Memories at www.mchoulfuneralhome.com.
