Obituary for
Mary E. Egan (Condon)
Mary E. Egan, 85, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 2015 and formerly of Mount Vernon, died on December 18, 2017.
Born in Mount Vernon on November 19, 1932, she was the daughter of Thomas and Anna (Sim) Condon. Mary had worked for the Franciscan Missions in Mount Vernon for over 25 years until her retirement in 2000. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St. Peter and Paul Churches, both in Mount Vernon. She enjoyed her occasional trips to the casinos with her co-workers, but more than anything, her family was her entire life. Mary was just the most amazing women - wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, sister-in-law, cousin, or friend that anyone could ever hope for. Her personality was that of a saint - her patience, gentleness, kindness, and her faith - always seeing nothing but the good in everyone and everything.
On November 19, 1957, at Sacred Heart Church in Mount Vernon, Mary married Peter Egan who predeceased her on June 4, 2012. She is survived by her sons, Peter Egan and Paul Egan of Mount Vernon; her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Anthony Mastronardi of Hopewell Junction; her grandchildren, Kristen and Chris Perry of Poughkeepsie, and Michael Mastronardi of Hopewell Junction; her great-grandson, Carter Perry; her sister, Patricia Gayz of Hyde Park; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also predeceased by her sons, James Egan in 2013, and Michael Egan in 2011; and her brother, Thomas Condon in 2016.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday at 9:30am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, followed by interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the East Fishkill Rescue Squad or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
