Aunt Charlotte was an amazing woman who always saw potential for good in people, and treated people with compassion. She was strong and full of passion when it came to standing up for what she believed in. I loved spending Sunday's with her when I was younger. She was a great cook, and shared so much wisdom. She also instill a sense of family history in me, as she explained how our family participated in the revolutionary war. From that I learned that a sense of standing up for what we believe in is deeply rooted in our genetics. She lead by example how to live one's life. She taught us to give what little we have to give to others. She always focused on the children, and pointed out their potential for greatness. Where others saw disabilities in a human, she saw the human, and how wonderful each person was inside. As kids she always told us that it is okay to fail, but it is not okay to not try. She encouraged all of us to be our best selves, and to never give up on ourselves! I cannot express how much she influenced me. But I know her spirit will live on in all of us each time someone volunteers their service, or takes a moment to encourage a child to never give up.
