Obituary for Ann A Miceli

Ann A Miceli
Ann A. Miceli, 90, and area resident since 1952, died peacefully on November 20, 2017 at the home that her husband loving built for them back in 1954.

Born in Brooklyn on August 30, 1927, she was the daughter of Vincent and Carmela Gulfo. On June 12, 1948 in Brooklyn, Ann married Peter Edward Miceli who predeceased her on March 26, 2014. As a young woman she worked in New York City at the prestigious Saks Fifth Avenue, in the jewelry department until she moved to Dutchess County. She later became a fashion consultant at Flah’s Department Store, Poughkeepsie, NY.

In 1956, Ann and Peter established, owned and operated Empire Supply and Pool Company in Hopewell Junction, NY. As a retired couple, together they created Sea and Country Crafts where they sold their original Folk Art at regional stores and craft fairs. Ann was a vibrant and active participant in her community and church. She was a parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction, where she was a member and past president of the Altar Rosary Society, and the first director of the Saint Columba Catholic Youth Organization, CYO. She was also a member of the Hopewell Hose Ladies Auxiliary, one of the founders of Dutchess County March of Dimes, and a past president of the Fishkill Plains PTA. Ann was also an active Girl Scout and Boy Scout Leader and as a troop leader she participated in the 50th Year Celebration of the Dutchess County Girl Scouts.

Ann is survived by her children, Joan Muhlbauer and husband Paul, Carol Bartelemucci and fiancé Sal Guadagno, John P. Miceli and wife Janice, Ann Teed and husband Stephen, and Peter V. Miceli; her grandchildren, Krista and Sal Ferrara, Kimberly and Kyle Endres, Lawrence and Kerry Bartelemucci, Jeffrey Bartelemucci, Michelle and Tim Murphy, Heather and Anthony Scaffidi, John Vincent Miceli, Nicole and Jay Kees, Chelsea and Daniel Mulroy, Stephen Teed, and Peter J. Miceli; great-grandchildren; Augustine, Owen and Logan Murphy, Victoria, Giuliana and Antonia Sciffidi, Adeline and Grace Bartelemucci, Alena Kees, Perry Mulroy and one more on the way. She is survived by siblings, Vincent Gulfo and Mary Simone, and predeceased siblings; Josephine, Rose, Lucille and Camille.

As the matriarch of her loving, gregarious, Italian clan, Ann instilled her love of God, Nature and the Arts with each and every member of her beloved family. This is seen in all her endeavors of life whether it was creating her artwork, preparing Sunday family meals or singing along with her Broadway sweetheart. All who had the privilege to be in her presence, had the opportunity to know her grace and generosity. She will be greatly missed but remembered for her strength and courage.

Calling hours will be on Friday from 4-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the March of Dimes. Please visit Ann’s Book of Memories at www.mchoulfuneralhome.com.
