Rocco N. Lobreglio
HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Rocco N. Lobreglio, 96, passed away on November 19, 2017 after a long illness. Rocco was a resident of Hopewell Junction since 1994. Born in the Bronx on December 13, 1920, he was the son of the late Leonard and Anna (Agnate) Lobreglio.
Rocco was a WWII veteran who served 3 years and 3 months. When inducted into the Army, he was put on military occupational status as an artist. He was employed as an artist for Lewis Brothers for 21 years, and then Commercial Decal for 13 years, and retired on his birthday in 1985. He did freelance art work for a few companies after retirement. He won many awards from the age of 7. Rocco loved giving art lessons to young students and enjoyed seeing their progress. He will always be remembered for his passion of art.
Rocco was a parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction and was a member of the East Fishkill Seniors.
On May 7, 1950 at St. Mary’s Church in Yonkers, he married Lucille (Turco) Lobreglio who survives at home. Rocco had one son, Michael, who predeceased him on May 7, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 67 years; his daughter-in-law, Joanna Lobreglio; his granddaughters and their husbands, Melissa Lobreglio (Michael Michalski) and Nicole Lobreglio (Christopher Filippone); his Godchild, Rosemarie Cunningham; his special friends, Willy and Meta Laib; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Anthony, Peter, Domenick, Salvatore, and Joseph; sisters, Angela and Margaret; and 4 sisters-in-law.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 11:00am – 12:30pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday at 1pm at St. Columba Church. Inurnment will be on Wednesday at 1 pm at Fishkill Rural Cemetery with military honors.
