Condolence: Beth & Family, It was so sad to hear of Mike's passing. I knew him as a colleague for many years at Brewster Schools and found him to be an outstanding teacher, coach and more importantly, friend. He was a caring, fair minded person who was extremely respected and well liked by both the students and staff. He has left us much too soon. In peace, Rich Mueller

Condolence: I was a Jr at Brewster High in the early 70's when Mike 1st became a teacher and coach at such a young age. He was more like a brother than a coach but was firm/fair and earned our respect and our friendship that lasted a lifetime. Many years later I had the privilege of reconnecting with Mike & Beth on both the Soccer fields of EFSC and basketball courts as both a coach and again as a player. I so much enjoyed seeing Mike and Beth and watching our boys play soccer together at John Jay. I shed a tear today in happiness for the memories of a wonderful father, husband, teacher and coach for which I always called a friend!! Rest in Peace Mike.

Condolence: Like others who have left condolences, I am one of the lucky people that was privileged to be coached and taught by Mr. Mostransky. Although it's been almost 35 years since he was my 8th grade and freshmen basketball coach, I can still recall conversations we had word for word. He left that strong an impression. After I was cut from freshmen baseball, Coach offered not only his sympathy, but a spot on the golf team. Having never played golf, I turned him down. Every lousy round I've played the last 25 years, I've regretted not taking him up on his offer! He valued us as people, not just athletes and students. God Bless

Condolence: In the relatively short time we new Mike, we came to understand what a special man he was. In the stories he shared with us about his past, you knew that Mike did the right things for the right reasons. Wherever he went he was treated with the utmost respect and was often addressed as "Coach". There was never enough praise or accolades when Mike tallked about Beth, his children and grandchildren. I'm sure they will carry on with the values he instilled in them. Our sympathy and condolences go out to Beth and the Family for their great loss (and ours too). Love, Ken & Donna

In this difficult time i hope you can find some comfort in God's promise for a time when no one will say i'm sick(Isaiah 33:24),and for a time when he will wipe away the tears from all faces and swallow up death forever(Isaiah 25:8). These promises are also repeated in Revelation 21:34

Condolence: Mike was a constant positive force in my life for the past 40 years. Early on he seemed wise beyond his years. We coached countless teams together and shared so many lasting memories that shaped how I would coach for years to come. When Mike became the Varsity Basket ball coach at Brewster I was his JV coach. The program needed a pice of equipment and there was no money in the budget. No problem for Mike. We spent two weeks , mostly evenings, painting a house! Problem solved. Mike was very principled , believing that character counted above all else, a lesson that shaped my life. We spent many summer days together at Gipsy Trail, Mike the Day Camp Director and me the Tennis Pro. His ability at conflict resolution was another gift he had, solving so many potential problems that camp life provided. He would light up when he talked of Beth and his sons and later his many grandchildren. They were at the core of he was. I will miss his friendship, his advice on the golf course. Try as he might, I could never fix my slice. He provided countess days and years of a wonderful friendship. Rest In Peace Michael.

Condolence: Coach Mostransky was one of a Kind. He was just a young man starting his career when I had the privilege of playing for him as my Basketball and football coach. Coach always knew exactly what to say and exactly when to say it to motivate us/me to reach my full potential. Mike was a great coach and role model. I had the privilege of running into him at Centennial during a round of golf. We had some good laughs when I sliced my drive into the woods. But he took the opportunity to coach me yet one last time. What a great man, I have always treasured the time I had with him as my coach. May god Bless you and I Thank You, the entire Mostransky family, for sharing such a wonderful guy with all of us.

Condolence: Having the privilege of working with Mike Mostransky changed my life, and the lives of countless others. He believed in us, and brought out the best in us all. He was always "there" when needed, and gave us steadfast friendship. His gifts to us will prevail "times thousands" (he was an awesome math teacher, too!) and continue to make this world a better place.

Condolence: Mr. Mostransky (as all his students knew him) was an incredible mentor and friend to me and so many others at Brewster High School. He impacted hundreds of lives for the better, and inspired me to pursue a career in basic science. I wish I had shared more of my journey with him, and I can't imagine high school without him. Mike was deeply intelligent, empathetic and funny - he was truly a one-of-a-kind individual who will be deeply missed.

Condolence: To my mentor, my friend...you taught me how to be the best teacher, coach, parent, friend and person I could be. The memories we shared in the classroom will be with me forever. There are not enough words to express how much you meant to me. You were a truly good man and a gentleman who shared his passion of teaching whether it be about academics, sports or life. I loved hearing your stories about your sons and family, you were such a proud dad. And when you spoke of Beth, your world, your heart your face would light up and your smile was bigger than your face. You will forever be in my heart, Rest now Mike and always be at Peace.

Condolence: Mike Mostransky was a special man to me and my family. Although I never had him as a teacher he was my basketball coach for a few years. One of the most repsected and approachable teachers in the school. My Mom and Dad treasured Mike and Beth's friendship - spent quite a few hours on the court with them and the Ives and Viniellos on Turk Hill. We are blessed to have known him.

Condolence: A Great man with a great way about him. Coach always cared. He cared about us and wanted us all to be good men. He cared about US, not winning as much as growing as men. Being responsible, being kind, working hard, believing in ourselves and our teammates. He wasn't easy on us, he was fair, honest and loving in a disciplined way! He helped us all be better players and better men! I love Mike Mostransky and I told him so on many occasions. It was my greatest pleasure to be able to come back to Brewster as an educator and work with him because he made a difference everyday and he was amazing! Thank you coach! My deepest condolences to Beth and the boys, who you spoke of so often and so fondly. You made difference and you are missed! RIP Coach!

Condolence: R.I.P Coach Mostransky. Such a wonderful man and golf coach for the Brewster Bears. I played under him from 1997-2001. In 1999 while going through a poor stretch as a sophomore, I almost gave up golf to play tennis. Coach Mostransky showed up at my front door to talk some sense into me. When I opened the door his first words were, "Brett, I want you on the golf team." He was always calm, cool and collected with a witty sense of humor. Whenever we would see him during our golf matches, he would brighten us up with one or two sentences. His speeches at the spring sports awards were always the best by far, he had the whole gymnasium laughing about golf. Rest in Peace Coach, you'll always be remembered.
