Condolence From: Patrick O'Neill

Condolence: I was a Jr at Brewster High in the early 70's when Mike 1st became a teacher and coach at such a young age. He was more like a brother than a coach but was firm/fair and earned our respect and our friendship that lasted a lifetime. Many years later I had the privilege of reconnecting with Mike & Beth on both the Soccer fields of EFSC and basketball courts as both a coach and again as a player. I so much enjoyed seeing Mike and Beth and watching our boys play soccer together at John Jay. I shed a tear today in happiness for the memories of a wonderful father,husband, teacher and coach for which I always called a friend!! Rest in Peace Mike.

Condolence: Like others who have left condolences, I am one of the lucky people that was privileged to be coached and taught by Mr. Mostransky. Although it's been almost 35 years since he was my 8th grade and freshmen basketball coach, I can still recall conversations we had word for word. He left that strong an impression. After I was cut from freshmen baseball, Coach offered not only his sympathy, but a spot on the golf team. Having never played golf, I turned him down. Every lousy round I've played the last 25 years, I've regretted not taking him up on his offer! He valued us as people, not just athletes and students. God Bless

Condolence: In the relatively short time we new Mike, we came to understand what a special man he was. In the stories he shared with us about his past,you knew that Mike did the right things for the right reasons. Wherever he went he was treated with the utmost respect and was often addressed as "Coach". There was never enough praise or accolades when Mike tallked about Beth, his children and grandchildren. I'm sure they will carry on with the values he instilled in them.
Our sympathy and condolences go out to Beth and the Family for their great loss (and ours too).
