Grace Ann "Giza" Hornyak
Grace Ann Hornyak, a local area resident since 2015, died peacefully at home on Saturday, October 28, 2017. She was 84.
Daughter of the late Benjamin and Mary (Sabo) Nagy, she was born in Cherryville Township, PA on November 1, 1932. Throughout her life, she had also resided in Jackson Heights and Flushing, Queens as well as Hannacroix in Greene County.
Grace was primarily a homemaker, but also worked for several companies including State Farm Insurance, Frederick Goldman, Inc., and Vogart Crafts. She cherished spending time with family and friends as well as her many pets that have enriched her life. She also enjoyed many hobbies including gardening and playing games such as Yahtzee, Scrabble, and Solitaire.
On September 5, 1953, she married Nicholas Hornyak in New York, NY. She was predeceased by her husband on December 12, 2002.
Affectionately known as "Giza", Grace is survived by her daughter, Debra DiSalvio & her husband Paul of Beacon; her daughter, Maryann Huitron & her husband Robert of Jackson Heights, Queens; her son, Frank Hornyak; her grandson, Matthew DiSalvio of Los Angeles, CA; her granddaughter, Nikki Lee DiSalvio, currently a student in Pittsburgh, PA; her granddaughter, Elizabeth Huitron of Jackson Heights, Queens; and her grandson, Frank Hornyak, Jr.
Calling hours will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 2 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. At 7 p.m., the family will share remembrances in celebration of her life. A graveside service will take place at 12 p.m. on Friday, November 3 at St. Michael’s Cemetery, 72-02 Astoria Blvd., East Elmhurst, Queens.
