Obituary for Sandra A. Trifilo

GLENHAM – Sandra A. Trifilo, a lifelong resident of Glenham, died on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. She was 75.
Daughter of the late Edward and Alice (O’Donnell) Murphy, she was born in Cold Spring on August 12, 1942. On November 22, 1959, she married Eugene T. Trifilo at St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill.

For many years, Sandra and Gene owned and operated Gene & Sandy’s Stationery Store, later Trifilo’s Stationery Store, both in Beacon. Sandy was a member of the Slater Chemical Fire Company Ladies’ Auxiliary and a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church in Beacon. She was also Past President of the local Catholic Daughters of America.

Sandra’s true passion was cooking and baking. She was the recipient of more than 150 prize ribbons at the Dutchess County Fair and in 2012 she was the first-place winner of the Pillsbury Pie Bake-Off Championship.

Her loving husband, Gene, survives at home. Additional survivors include three children: Mark T. Trifilo & his wife Lee Ann, Eugene J. Trifilo, and Staci Trifilo; nine grandchildren: Sonya, Chelsea, Sean, Gabe, Peter, Rose, Melissa, Marc, and Nikita; five great-grandchildren; three sisters: Donna Bamond & her husband David, Patricia Roza & her husband Richard, and Doreen Murphy; her sister-in-law, Bernadette Murphy; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives & friends.
She was predeceased by her son, Frank Trifilo, as well as her brother Edward Murphy.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 20 and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 21 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 21 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 31 Willow Street, Beacon.
