Obituary for Frank LaGrande III

Frank LaGrande, III, 72, an area resident since 1968 and formerly of Albany, died on October 12, 2017 at Mid Hudson Regional Hospital.

Born in Albany, NY on July 27, 1945, Frank was the son of the late Ensign Frank LaGrande, Jr., and the late Adaline Hayden LaGrande. He was a graduate of Albany Academy and held BS and MS degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He worked as a technical writer and later as a programmer at IBM in Poughkeepsie and Kingston from 1968 to his retirement in 2002; he continued to work several more years a a contractor as a help desk representative.

Throughout his life Frank was involved in music. He played guitar and sang in several contemporary music worship groups, including the Word of Life Community in Newburgh. He sang tenor in several choruses including the IBM Mixed Chorus and the East Fishkill Community Chorus, and was a song leader and choir member at St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction and later Saint Kateri Church in Lagrangeville, where he was a parishioner.

On September 6, 1969 in Troy, Frank married Susan E. Green who survives at home. He is also survived by his children, Frank Edward LaGrande and his wife Tara Brown of Keene, NH, Joanna Catherine LaGrande of Wappingers Falls, and Sarah Susannah LaGrande of Wappingers Falls; and his grandsons, William Silver Smart IV, Michael Vasquez, and Jack LaGrande.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday at 10am at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 1925 Route 82, LaGrangeville. The interment in Hackensack Cemetery will be private.
