Obituary for
George W. "Bill" Comer
FISHKILL – George W. “Bill” Comer, 86, a Fishkill resident since 1998, died on July 21, 2017 at New York Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital. He previously had lived in Peekskill.
Born in Peekskill on February 11, 1931, he was the son of the late George and Margaret (Archer) Comer. After graduating from Peekskill High School in 1949, Bill worked for the A&P Tea Company. Later he worked at Westchester County Medical Center from 1983 until his retirement in 1996.
Bill was a parishioner at St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill. An avid fan of the NY Mets and NY Giants, Bill loved to play pinochle and bingo at the Fishkill Senior Center.
On January 31, 1955 Bill married Marilyn McGimpsey Comer. The two had just celebrated 62 years of marriage this past January. His wife survives at their marital home in Fishkill, NY. He is also survived by his children, Patricia Drivanos of Middletown, NY; Michael W. Comer of Worcester, MA; Mel Comer and her partner Tracey Miller of Ridgefield, CT; William J. Comer of Portland, OR, and Kathleen M. Comer of Middletown, NY; along with his grandchildren, Brett Comer, Toby and his wife Casey Comer, Elyse Comer, and Maggie Comer; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Bill was predeceased by his son-in-law, Strat Drivanos.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday at 10 am at St. Mary, Mother of the Church followed by interment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
