Obituary for Michael J. Enson

Michael J.  Enson
WAPPINGERS FALLS - Michael J. Enson, 90, a long-time area resident, died on July 20, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born in New York City on May 29, 1927, he was the son of John and Philomena Enson. Michael proudly served our country in the US Navy during World War II. He served aboard the USS Princeton where it was sunk in Leyte Gulf in October of 1944. He had been employed as a Service Administrator with IBM in Poughkeepsie for 35 years. Following his retirement, he enjoyed 15 years on Long Beach Island before returning home to be with his family.

Michael was a life member of the Hughsonville Fire Department with 60 years of membership. He was also an avid Yankees fan.

Michael is survived by his wife of 37 years, Carol Mellis; his children and their spouses, Anne and James Sklenar of Beacon, Robin and Wayne Thomas of West Haven, CT, Mark and Joyce Raymond of Martinsburg, WV, Lisa and William Pray of Stormville, Gary and Eugenia Raymond of Melbourne, FL; his sister, Marilyn McGrath of Long Island; his grandchildren, Matthew Sklenar and his fiancé Melissa Baxter, Christopher Sklenar and his wife Victoria, Barbara GJerde, Jason Enson and his fiancé Mary Paonessa, Kimberly Enson and her fiancé Alan Austin, Alison Enson and her fiancé Mannie Martinez, Kristen Enson, Michael Enson III and his wife Cheryl, Megan Enson, Nicole Enson, Heather Barrett and her husband Michael, Vincent Raymond , Joshua Raymond, Nicolette Raymond, Courtney Pray and her fiancé Christopher Schettino, William Pray, Lyza Raymond and her fiancé Cody Jones, and Brooke Raymond; 19 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sons, John S. Enson, Joseph T. Enson, and Michael J. Enson; and his granddaughter, Emely Raymond.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3-7pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery with military honors.
