Obituary for Florence Fesko

HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Florence Hopkins Fesko, an eight-year local area resident, died on Friday, June 16, 2017 at Putnam Ridge Nursing Care Facility in Brewster. She was 95.

She was born on March 6, 1922 in Yonkers. In 1943, she married Edward Fesko. They remained in Yonkers until moving to Yorktown Heights in 1956. While in Yorktown, Florence worked as an administrator for Chapman Insurance and was an active parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church.

In 1986, she and her husband relocated to Delray Beach, FL. She was predeceased by her husband in 2009, at which time Florence returned to the Hudson Valley.
She loved knitting, and always enjoyed making sweaters & blankets for her family and friends as well as providing her work to various charities. Florence always remained dedicated to her faith and attended Mass every week.

Survivors include her son, Edward Fesko and his wife Donna of Greenwich, CT; her daughter-in-law, Eileen Fesko of Hopewell Junction; her grandchildren, Nicholas Fesko of Greenwich, CT, Heather Verrastro & her husband Dan of Monroe, CT, Jason Fesko & his wife Amanda of Chappaqua, Michael Fesko of Greenwich, CT, and Kelly Fesko of New Windsor; her great-grandchildren, Sam, Daniel, Sarah, Helen, Edward, Kyle, Addison, and Conor; also many other loving relatives & friends.

In addition to her husband, Florence was also predeceased by her son, Robert J. Fesko in 2014 as well as her brother, Don Hopkins, and two sisters: Gertrude Appledorn and Eleanor McMorris.

Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 19 at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20 at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. Entombment will take place at a later date at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or by visiting www.stjude.org.
