Obituary for
John Andrew Kacur
FISHKILL - John A. Kacur, a resident of Lyon Mountain, NY since 2003, formerly of Fishkill and Beacon, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2017 at the U.V.M. Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh, NY. He was 90.
Son of the late Andrew J. and Ethel (McCreary) Kacur, he was born in Beacon on October 24, 1926. John was a World War II Veteran and served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947. He was employed by I.B.M. for 38 years. At the time of his retirement, he was a Lab Technician at the company’s facility in East Fishkill.
John was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a lifetime member of the N.R.A. as well as the Southern Dutchess & Putnam Sportsmen Association. He was also a member of the First Reformed Church of Fishkill and the B.P.O. Elks Lodge #2609 in Wappingers Falls.
On May 25, 1952, he married Shirley Robinson in Beacon. His loving wife of 64 years resides in Lyon Mountain.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Todd Kacur & his wife Jeanne of Red Creek, NY and Scott Kacur & his wife Deborah of Fishkill; two granddaughters, Taylor Kacur of Essex Junction, VT and Jordan Kacur; his sister, Marilyn Ettinger & her husband Donald of Peekskill; and many relatives & friends.
Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. immediately following the calling hours, with Rev. Gloria McCanna officiating. Interment will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
