Obituary for Thomasina M. "Tomi" Virgadamo (DeSalvo)

Thomasina M. Virgadamo, of Beacon, died on Friday, March 31, 2017 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. She was 85.
She was born in the Bronx on March 6, 1932, daughter of the late Thomas DeSalvo.
On January 31, 1953, she married Louis Virgadamo in the Bronx. She and her husband later relocated to Mahopac, where they lived for many years until moving to Beacon in 1986.
Thomasina retired from General Electric, where she worked in the company’s collections department at their facility in Danbury, CT. She had also worked for the Bank of New York as well as the Yorktown Pennysaver.
She attended St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill and also participated with the Philipstown Seniors. She enjoyed being with her friends, whether it was eating out or planning trips with them. More than anything else, she cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she loved taking on new adventures.
Survivors include her son, Thomas Virgadamo & his wife Karen of Cold Spring; three grandsons: Anthony Virgadamo (Stella) of Wappingers Falls, Thomas Virgadamo (Meghan) of Beacon, and Joseph Virgadamo (Laurissa) of Cold Spring; her great-grandchildren, Louisa, Leo, Antonia, and Magdalena; her sister, Gloria Truppi of Hillsdale, NJ; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives & friends.
Thomasina was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Virgadamo in 2002 and her son, Anthony Virgadamo in 1974. She was also predeceased by her sisters Michelena Filomio, Jean Filomio, and Mildred Truppi.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Franciscan Sisters of the Atonement, Development Office, 41 Old Highland Turnpike, Garrison, NY 10524
