Sabato Iebba, 73, a resident of Hopewell Junction for 36 years and formerly of Mount Vernon and Italy, died on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in Benevento, Italy on March 15, 2015, he was the son of Giuseppe and Concetta DePaolo Iebba. Sabato attended college in Italy, graduating as an engineer. Sabato was an owner and operator of Sunshine Pizza in Yorktown Heights and Hopewell Junction. He was a parishioner of St. Columba Church, and a member of Joe DiMaggio Lodge, Sons of Italy.

An awesome provider, he was a very giving man. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all.

On September 4, 1966 at St. Joseph’s Church in New Rochelle, Sabato married Maria Capparelli who predeceased him on January 13, 2010. He is survived by his children, Rose Maria Iebba and Alessandro Iebba; his grandchildren, Alessandro Sabato Iebba and Brianna Maria Iebba; his siblings, Pasquale, Nicola and Geno Iebba, and Maria Periello; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by his son Luigi Iebba in 1967.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 5-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by entombment in Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
