Obituary for
James Nani
James Nani, a 15-year resident of Lagrangeville, formerly of Carmel and Yorktown Heights, died at the MidHudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center on Sunday, July 6, 2014. He was 84.
Son of the late James and Amanda (Winkle) Nani, he was born in the Bronx on October 4, 1929. James worked as a plumber his entire life and retired in 1985. He was a parishioner of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church in Lagrangeville.
On November 12, 1950, he married Madeline Florio at St. Lucy’s Church in the Bronx. Mrs. Nani survives at home.
In addition to his wife, other survivors include his daughter, Amanda Lowery & her husband Michael of Mahopac; his daughter, Susan Celestino & her husband Henry of Putnam Valley; his son, James Nani & his wife Joanne of Newburgh; his son, Michael Nani & his wife Doreen of Poughkeepsie; his son, Joseph Nani & his wife Debbie of Hopewell Junction; 19 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives & friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Anthony Celestino, as well as his brother, Charles Nani.
Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, July 7 and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8 at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 9 at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 1925 Route 82, Lagrangeville. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery in Cortlandt Manor.
